Attend RA/TA/GA Onboarding - I-9 Form Document Review Session
This is specifically designed for Research Assistants (RAs), Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Graduate Assistants (GAs) as a resource to complete Section 2 of the I-9 form with Human Resources (HR) employment staff and to ask questions about employment at UT Dallas.
You are required to attend one I-9 Document Review session on or before your start date. The details will be shared with the selected RA/TA/GA by the hiring department at the beginning of each semester. An appointment is necessary to attend by a link to HR's appointment system on MS Teams Bookings, which will be shared by the hiring department.
If you are a re-hired employee, you may still need to attend a session to update your paperwork. Check with your department contact.
Before you arrive to the scheduled appointment, please make note of the following:
Complete all online onboarding tasks (there are 17) and ensure they are at 100% completion rate.
You must bring your original I9 supporting document(s). *
Do not arrive early to your scheduled appointment to avoid any overflow of visitors within the designated meeting area.
Maintain 6 feet (about two arms’ length) physical distancing from other people at all times.
Offer letters and instructions will be available for the RA/TA/GAs who need to apply for a social security number.
* Please bring the following items with you to the I9 Document Review session:
Identification for I-9 Form - You will need to bring documents that verify your identity and employment authorization. The I-9 instructions provide a list of acceptable documents on page 4. You must bring one document from List A or one document from both List B and List C with you. We do not accept photocopies.
International Passports - If you are using an international passport for a List A document, you will also need to bring your I-20 and a print-out of your I-94
Please note that employment is contingent upon the successful completion of your background check.
Non-US Citizens without Social Security Numbers
At the I9 Document Review session, you will be able to receive a job offer letter to prove UT Dallas employment for the International Student Services Office (ISSO). The ISSO will provide you with additional documentation. You must attend an ISSO orientation before you will be provided the additional documentation.
The letters received from Human Resources and the ISSO, are necessary to apply for a social security number. Please review the Social Security website for specific instructions on what documents you need to take with you when applying for a social security number.
If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Human Resources at [email protected].
