Organizations that treat every employee as a leader create the best leaders – and the best cultures.
BRIGHT Leaders is a professional development program that enables the success of all UTD employees by providing growth opportunities for staff and faculty at all levels. Participants can learn leadership principles and access tools so they may “Lead from Where You Are” and that support and nurture the professional development of bold, responsible, high-performing and transformative leaders. The program is hosted virtually via MS Teams and is an open resource of articles, book recommendations, videos, in-person and online classes, and leadership pathways with core classes and recommendations for a more structured development plan for those who desire.

BRIGHT Leaders aims to support, encourage and serve as a resource to cultivate and nurture effective leadership at all levels by providing trainings and resources to help all UTD employees grow their leadership skills. BRIGHT Leaders Pathways – Curated collections of courses designed to target development of specific leadership skills at various levels.
BRIGHT Leaders Book Club – Join colleagues in roundtable discussions on various leadership principles, concepts, and models presented in foundational and contemporary books and articles.
Getting To Know You – A series of Deans and Vice Presidents sharing about their leadership experiences, challenges they’ve learned along the way, and more importantly, who they are as a person.
Lessons from Leaders – A series of executive and senior leaders sharing their experiences and lessons learned as they navigated leadership challenges throughout their career.
Info Sessions – Training opportunities that cover a variety of subjects and are offered through a variety of platforms based on subject matter, to meet the unique needs of our UTD Community.
Spotlight on Staff – A series devoted to spotlighting the great work that our staff do behind the scenes of UTD schools and divisions.
Teaching Leadership Compassion (TLC) – Training sessions and presentations that focus on “real life leadership”. Expand your comfort zone in effectively addressing difficult or complex issues.

Microsoft Teams Group
One of the best ways to stay connected with BRIGHT Leaders is the BRIGHT Leaders Teams group. This Teams Group is open to all members of the UTD community to support, encourage and provide resources to grow leadership skills at all levels. Learn about leadership principles, tools and tips to “Lead From Where You Are” at UTD to further your career development. You will have access to a variety of articles, recommended readings, videos, mini talent development sessions, round table discussions, guest presentations, and more.
To join, open Microsoft Teams and click the “Teams” tab on the left side menu. Then click the “Join or create team” button at the top right. Navigate to BRIGHT Leaders and click the “Join team” button. You will then be able to access BRIGHT Leaders from the “Your Teams” section.
