Once your enrollment is complete, benefits are effective as of your hire date. UT Dallas and the State of Texas will pay 100% of your employee-only premiums for the Basic Coverage Package, so you get these benefits with no out-of-pocket costs.
For our benefits-eligible part-time employees working 20-29 hours per week, UT Dallas and the State of Texas will pay 50% of your employee-only premiums for the Basic Coverage Package. Once your enrollment is complete, benefits are effective as of your hire date.
Basic Coverage Package for Eligible Employees Includes:

- UT SELECT Prescription Drug Plan for employee only
- $50,000 Group Term Life Insurance coverage for employee only

Premium Sharing Plan
If you are a benefits-eligible employee with coverage under another group health plan or covered under the UTD Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) and decide to waive the Basic Coverage Package, you could be eligible for our Premium Sharing Plan. Full-time employees who waive the basic coverage package and enroll in premium sharing are eligible to use $390.12/month in premium sharing credits to cover the cost of their Dental, Vision, and AD&D plans. Part-time colleagues are eligible for $195.06/month in premium sharing credits. To be eligible for premium sharing, you must upload proof of alternate group coverage at the time of your online enrollment. Individual policies or coverage through the Marketplace Exchange are not eligible plans for this benefit.
You must make your insurance elections during the Annual Enrollment Period, July 15-31, or within 31 calendar days from your employment start date, change of status date, or life event date. All insurance elections are completed in the online My UT Benefits enrollment system. If adding dependents, you must upload proof of relationship documents to verify their eligibility.
