Governor Greg Abbott’s Executive Order GA-48 Impact on International Travel
December 19, 2024
Governor Greg Abbott issued executive order GA-48 on Nov 19, 2024, which impacts international travel to specific countries. Please note the executive order does not impact a foreign national’s immigration status.
For travel to China (including Hong Kong and Macao), Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, or Venezuela, travel for professional reasons is suspended and personal travel requires an International Personal Travel Report (IPTR).
Visit the Restricted Countries webpage to access the IPTR form, and for guidance to determine whether a trip to these destinations is suspended or simply requires an IPTR. Any updates about the impact of EO-GA-48 on travel will be posted on that page.
Questions related to international travel authorization and the international personal travel report may be directed to:Â IRSO@utdallas.edu.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: As we prepare for the new Federal Administration to take office, we anticipate potential immigration policy changes. UTD advises all international faculty, staff, and students who plan to travel overseas during the winter break to return to campus before Inauguration Day on January 20, 2025.
